Frequently asked questions.
Am i a good candidate for lash lifting?
The main purpose of a lash perm is to curl/lift your natural lashes and you must have at least a 4 millimeter lash to be an optimal candidate for the service. A lash lift is a great alternative for those who are unable to obtain extensions due to eye sensitivities or simply not having time to maintain them. If you have the required length, but you feel your lashes are too straight or too light in color, a lift and tint may be the way to go. If you’re uncertain, feel free to book a free consultation and discuss your options!
Am i a good candidate for eyebrow lamination?
If you use brow gel or brow soap daily and want to tame your brows then yes, you’re a perfect candidate for the service. If you want to achieve a more sculpted look, fuller look, or a fluffy look, you are still a perfect candidate. If you have very sparse, thin brows and are looking to fill in gaps, then we suggest booking a lamination with brow stain or booking a consultation to discuss your brows. Sparse brow lines may not have enough hairs to brush up and may not achieve the desired effect of the service, in which case, brow staining or cosmetic brow tattooing would be recommended.
What is a lash/brow perm (“lift/lamination”)?
Lash Lifting & Brow Lamination is a chemical process designed to make eyebrow/lash hair more flexible. Eyelashes will be stretched up to create the illusion of longer lashes or curled to replace the use of an eyelash curler. Eyebrows will be softened, allowing them to be sculpted with ease while giving the illusion of fuller brows! Brow lamination & lash lifting products are created to be more gentle than hair perm - they will not damage your hair. Your skin surrounding the brow may be a little red and slightly tender immediately following the service but will subdue in a few short hours. Because your eyes are closed throughout your entire service, stinging or irritation is unlikely. Of course, if you have any concerns, allergies, contraindications, or previous reactions to the service, please contact us prior to booking your appointment.
What is the difference between brow tinting and hybrid stain?
Eyebrow tinting is a semi-permanent treatment that lasts around four to six weeks. During the procedure, dye is used to tint the brows for a darker and more full look.
Brow staining is a non-permanent, non-invasive service that tints the eyebrow hair for 6-8 weeks but also stains the skin beneath the brows for up to a week. This stain beneath the brows provides clients with a bolder, fuller eyebrow appearance similar to brow tattooing but in a pain-free, non-permanent service.
What are the contrainDications for perming, Waxing, & Tinting?
-Discontinue use of retinols/retinoids/tretinoin, Vitamin A&C, and acids for 2-7 days prior to laminating or facial waxing.
-Allowing 6-10 weeks before undergoing another perming treatment from the last treatment booked.
-Perming and Staining is not recommended for pregnant or breast feeding clients.
-Any allergies or past symptoms of a reaction must be reported to us before booking an appointment.
Should i get a lash lift or eyelash extensions?
Lash lifts can last anywhere from 6 to 8 weeks depending on how fast your natural lashes grow, fall out, etc. Eyelash extensions, on the other hand, can last without upkeep for about 3 weeks, but with regular maintenance, they can last indefinitely. Eyelash extensions require much more upkeep and maintenance than lash lifts do. Usually, we recommend getting a re-lash or maintenance appointment every 2 weeks.
Lash lifts require you to not touch them or apply mascara for at least a 24-48 hour setting period. After that, though, you can wear mascara as normal. With lash extensions, you won’t even need mascara because of the added length, volume, and thickness! Additionally, lash extensions have a list of “no-no’s” that you must follow in order to maintain them, including: no mascara on top lashes, no liquid eyeliner or regular use of eye makeup, no oil-based products around eyes, no hot showers, no rubbing or pulling on the lashes, and daily washing/brushing.
A lash lift works only with your natural lashes. So, if you don’t have the fullest lashes, they’re short, or you just don’t like them for some reason, lash lifts might not give you the results you’re looking for. Remember: lash lifts don’t actually add any length or volume. Eyelash extensions physically add artificial lash extensions amongst your natural lashes.
I’VE NEVER HAD EXTENSIONS BEFORE. WHAT STYLE SHOULD I BOOK?
Classic Eyelash Extensions
Application: One extension is applied to one natural lash (1:1 ratio).
Look: Enhances the natural lash line, providing a subtle and natural enhancement.
Best for: Those looking for a natural look or those with already thick lashes.
Hybrid Eyelash Extensions
Application: A mix of classic and volume techniques (70-30 ratio).
Look: A balanced, wispy look that is neither too sparse nor too full.
Best for: Those who want a fuller look than classic but more natural than full volume.
Volume Eyelash Extensions
Application: Multiple finer extensions are applied to one natural lash, and spread out into a “fan’, to take up space.
Look: Creates a fuller, fluffier lash line.
Best for: Those seeking a more glamorous and voluminous look.
ARE EYELASH EXTENSIONS SAFE?
When correctly applied by a licensed and trained professional, eyelash extensions are a safe way to enhance the look of natural lashes.
Possible negative side effects from the lash adhesive, synthetic lashes, or irritation from eye pads/tape can include: swelling, temporary or permanent loss of eyelashes, skin irritation of the eyelid, and infection of the eyelid or cornea, if not properly cleaned daily.
If your eyes are very uncomfortable or you're having an allergic reaction, it is recommended to remove your lash extensions in the studio to avoid any further discomfort or risk of damage from removing them yourself.
HOW DO I CARE FOR MY EYELASH EXTENSIONS?
Keep them as dry as possible for at least 24-36 hours.
Avoid steamy environments, very hot showers, spas, saunas If it’s a very hot and humid day, try to stay out of the heat.
Try not to touch them much, particularly during the first few hours. The more you touch them, the more oils from your fingers get on them, the more strain on the lash root etc.
If you have a very oily face, try to control this as much as possible with blotting papers, mattifying lotions etc. and by using oil-control moisturizer.
Make sure you are using oil-free products on your face, particularly eye makeup removers and cleansers. Always avoid using mascara, liquid eyeliner or concealer on your eyes.
Clean them daily, with a foaming lash cleanser and brush at your sink. Baby shampoo (not the conditioning type) in very small amounts is ok too. Wait a few minutes before using a spoolie.
NEVER pick or pull at the extensions.
Try to sleep on your back or use an eye mask or satin pillow case.
Book your fills every 2-3 weeks.
