What is a brow tattoo?

Permanent Make-Up is a term used to describe facial cosmetic tattooing. This service is custom designed for each individual client according to their face shape, skin-tone, eye color, hair color and most importantly, skin type.

  • Ombre Powder Brows is a form of tattooing that implants on the epidermis layer of the skin.  The shading technique results in a natural, soft and more powdery and fluffy with a faded front and a crisp tail. Because it does not penetrate deep into the dermis layer of the skin, the results will last up to 1-3 years depending on skin type, lifestyle and maintenance appointments.  All results vary.

  • Both Powder Brows & Microblading are a form of eyebrow micropigmentation or cosmetic tattooing. Microblading uses a pen-like device with a disposable microblade attached to stroke lines of pigment to resemble hair strokes. Ombre powder brows is performed using a handheld tattoo machine. The major difference between the two is that ombre powder brows offers a soft solid fill, where microblading mimics your natural brow hair strokes. Microblading is also not recommended for oily/combo skin and penetrates deeper in the skin, risking changes in ink color and damage to the skin. Powder Brow is good for all skin types and pigment color doesn’t drastically change.

  • The 3 hour appointment begins by mapping out your new brow design with makeup and use various measuring devices to create ideal symmetry.  We can also test color choice against your skin so you can see it prior to the Micropigmentation.  A numbing solution is used during the procedure to ensure the appointment is as comfortable as possible for the client. Pain level is subjective to each individual. Everybody has a different level of pain tolerance but most clients are completely comfortable and relaxed during the appointment. You may feel slight discomfort but the results will far outweigh this.  You may take TYLENOL prior to the appointment but NOT ASPRIN OR IBUPROFEN, as they will thin your blood.

  •  Most clients leave the appointment with no redness.  The numbing solution used during the appointment helps to control any swelling or redness.

Immediately following your procedure, the tattooed area will appear to be darker and bolder in color and more sharply defined. Over the next 2 days it will appear even darker and thicker as scabs begin to form. It should take up to 10 days for scabbing to be over.

Swelling and redness is minimal with most clients, and will disappear within 24-36 hours.  In some cases, it may last around the eye area for up to 3 days, but will not prevent you from working or socializing. The treated area may feel a bit like sunburn afterwards, but there should be minimal discomfort. The procedure will not prohibit hair growth patterns, therefore your brow hair will grow back  normal. You will continue to groom (wax, tweeze, or thread)  your brows as usual.

  • It should last up to 1-3 years after your first touch up, depending on skin type, lifestyle, and aftercare. An annual touch up is recommended to refresh the brow tattoo. If the following applies to you, your tattoo will fade faster and touch up may be needed sooner than expected:

    - Oily Skin

-Work out 5-7days/week conisitently (sweat, salt, oil production

-Out in the sun ( have an outdoorsy lifestyle or use tanning booths)

    -Swim (exposure salt and chlorine)

    -Iron deficiency

    -Frequent smoker

-Certain medications will also increase fading

    - Use of resurfacing products on the brows such as glycolic/salicylic acid, peels and retinoids

    -Undergoing laser hair removal treatments

  • Your first touch up happens at 6-8 weeks. It typically takes 2 appointments within 2-3 months of one another to get the desired result. The first appointment is about structure and design. The touchup is about seeing how the skin heals and retains pigment, as well as making any necessary adjustments to achieve better symmetry and volume.  If you don’t feel the need for it, then it is not necessary.

Touch up appointments can be made 6-8 weeks after your initial appointment. Annual touchups are highly recommended to maintain fresh looking results. Additional touchups (at minimum charge) may be necessary to achieve desired results as each person heals differently and may factors can lead to varied results.

Your brow tattoo can last 1-3 years depending on sun exposure, lifestyle and skin type. Oily skin types tend to fade faster than dry skin types.

Touch ups are priced separately from the initial procedure and the price will vary depending on how much time has passed between each session.

  • The tattoo must be VERY faded in order to work over it properly. I do not perform corrections as it is difficult to alter the previous shape and overly tattoo or Microbladed skin may have damage. It is advised to book an in person consultation or email/text pictures for approval first, before booking your appointment online. I will never accept a brow I do not feel confident tattooing. I will direct you to another trusted artist or laser removal specialist, if necessary.

Working over another artist’s work, when possible, can take several sessions in order to correct color or shape. Be prepared to pay for individual touch ups until the desired results are achieved.
